ELCC 5.5: Candidates understand and can promote social justice within the school to ensure that individual student needs inform all aspects of schooling
Attending Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and documenting the roles of each representative aligns with ELCC 5.5. This standard emphasizes candidates' understanding and ability to promote social justice within the school by ensuring that individual student needs inform all aspects of schooling. By actively participating in CSE meetings for students not currently in the class, the candidate contributes to the process of addressing the unique requirements of students with exceptional needs. Reviewing test data, psychological profiles, and observing the student prior to the meeting showcases a commitment to informed decision-making and individualized support. Examining the CSE for compliance further ensures that the educational plan aligns with regulations, fostering social justice by promoting equitable access and outcomes for students with diverse needs.
