ELCC 4.4: Candidates understand and can respond to community interests and needs by building and sustaining productive school relationships with community partners.
As a future principal, I facilitated multiple parent workshops for parents of the students in my school. To ensure that these workshops were successful, I took a proactive approach to organizing and planning the events. This included identifying the topics that were of most interest to parents, arranging for knowledgeable speakers to attend, and selecting appropriate dates and times for the workshops. I also communicated regularly with parents through newsletters and social media, which helped to build trust and keep them informed about upcoming events. During the workshops, I demonstrated strong leadership skills by actively engaging with parents, facilitating discussions, and providing practical advice and strategies. I also ensured that parents felt heard and respected by actively listening to their concerns and feedback. Through my leadership, the workshops were well-attended and received positive feedback, ultimately resulting in increased parent involvement in the school community.
As a future principal, I have demonstrated my commitment to providing students with the resources they need to succeed by advocating for additional materials for small-group instruction. By taking the initiative to identify a need and advocate for additional resources, I have shown that I am willing to go above and beyond to support student learning and achievement.
